The money page

The club pays its hosts. Here’s exactly how.

Every other platform charges organisers or pays them in “exposure”. LMTW runs the other way: hosting is free, Captains earn credits every night they run, and earned credits cash out monthly through the Captain earnings program. This page is the whole economy in plain language — what a seat costs, what a night pays, and what a weekly host actually takes home. No hype, just arithmetic.

A hosted dinner of six in full swing

The credit economy in sixty seconds

The club runs on credits. Members buy them in packs — $25 buys 50 credits — and spend them on seats: a get-together is 12 credits, about $6. Credits never expire, and founding members start with a free pack.

Every seat carries that 12-credit bond, which is why our tables fill and stay filled: the bond is refunded on attendance, so a booking is a promise with a price. Now the interesting part — where those credits go when the night goes well.

What a Captain earns

Captains never spend credits on their own events — hosting costs you nothing. On top of that, the club pays you for the nights you run:

  • +12 credits every night you host, once every guest is marked in.
  • +3 full-house bonus when every seat fills.
  • +25 milestone bonus every five nights you host.

Cashable monthly — the earnings program

Credits you earn by hosting are different from credits you buy: earned credits build a Host Earnings balance, and once it reaches 100 earned credits you can request a payout. The club redeems earned credits for cash in a monthly batch, paid to your bank account via Stripe, after a quick club-office review. Purchased and promotional credits are never redeemable — only what you earn by hosting.

The program is rolling out city by city under its own terms — the redemption rate, the 100-credit minimum and the monthly batch are all set there, and we’ll always show your cashable balance in the app before you request anything. The important part doesn’t change: hosting earns, and earnings can become money.

Worked example: the weekly host

Say you host one dinner a week — a nice, sustainable rhythm. Each full night pays 12 + 3 = 15 credits, and every fifth week the +25 milestone lands. Across a month that’s around 60–70 earned credits. At the program’s current redemption rate, that’s roughly $18–20 a month in cashable earnings — plus a social life you paid nothing for, since your own seat is always free.

Host twice a week and the maths doubles: comfortably past the 100-credit payout line every month. Not a salary — a genuine thank-you with a dollar figure. Compare the alternative: Meetup charges organisers about US$24 a month for the privilege. That comparison in full.

You’re never organising alone

The money works because the machinery works: the club matches members into your night, holds every seat with a bond, handles the booking and the 24-hour venue reveal, and reviews every new group by hand. You arrive early, greet by name, and host. The free Captain Academy teaches the craft in about an hour, and the playbooks cover every activity and every generation.

Common questions

How much do Captains actually earn?

+12 credits per hosted night, +3 for a full house, +25 every five nights — and your own seat is always free. A weekly host earns around 60–70 credits a month, roughly $18–20 in cashable earnings at the program’s current rate.

How do payouts work?

Earned credits build a Host Earnings balance. From 100 earned credits you can request a payout; the club redeems earned credits for cash in a monthly batch, paid via Stripe after club-office review, under the program’s terms. Purchased credits are never redeemable — only what you earn by hosting.

Does hosting cost me anything?

No. Captains never spend credits on their own events, the Captain Academy training is free, and the club does the matching, booking and reminders. Your time on the night is the whole investment — and it’s the part that earns.

Do I need experience to start earning?

None. Join the club, tap Become a Captain, and take the free Academy — about an hour, at your own pace. Playbooks then cover your specific activity and your crew’s generation, so your first night arrives with instructions.
